Both of these can be reflected back at Serpentine using Milla's shield. He also has two ranged attacks: a powerful flamethrower that moves in a sinusoidal pattern and a spread shot that covers a large distance. Serpentine can also jump into the air and throw a punch downward that hits the ground and travels toward the player he will usually follow up this attack with a plasma punch. It is easy to avoid as long as the player just doesn't get to close to him for too long. His main attack is a plasma-charge punch that is very powerful and very quick. He has a number of quick attacks that the player must watch out for. Serpentine's weak spot during this fight is his head. If Serpentine manages to knock the player off and into outer space, then the player loses one life. The fight with him take place on a balcony right underneath the ship. He blasts through the floor and forces the player down with him. Then he opens his bright red eyes and mutates into a giant biomechanical monster. In the brief cutscene before the fight, he is initially unconscious and the player character goes to check on him. This time, however, he is not taking any chances of defeat with the player. The boss of this stage is a final fight against Serpentine. Serpentine hits Carol with a plasma punch. When they reach the very top, they are rewarded with a row of four extra lives to prepare them for the tough upcoming boss fight. There are a few break stops during this elevator section, so if the player needs a new shield or some health, then they can have it. There are several bombs along the slow way upward, so the player must move between the buttons whenever a bomb is coming near the one they are standing on. Standing on one of the buttons causes the elevator to rise up slowly. Then, the player hops on top of an elevator with two buttons on each side. The player then has to navigate through a row of several swooping lasers to get a keycard to open a locked door. If the player has picked Milla, however, this problem with the lack of air doesn't happen and the rest of the stage plays out normally. There are several other air vents that Milla will come out of, so if the player loses their shield, it's not an instant game over. The player must rush forward through the level as fast as possible in order to make it to an air vent, which Milla pops out of to provide the player with a water shield so the player can freely breathe. After he finishes this line, the lights go dark and the play can no longer breathe normally, as if they were underwater. Brevon will speak the following line: "You're forgetting something very important about our troops. Lilac must go between each button on the elevator.įor the remainder of the level, there is a new mechanic that the player must watch out for. Then they will climb upwards, avoiding traps and enemies with long firing range. After escaping that section, the player will go down a short hallway with a lot of weak enemies in it.
The miniboss is fairly simple, as the player has already fought it once in Thermal Base, but this time it has an army of Sunfloris and Shade Elite surrounding it, which will make killing it a lot more difficult. In order to unlock it, the player must search for the Robosquid miniboss and bust open its glass shell to grab the keycard. The player will then enter a maze-like room with moving platforms and a locked door leading to a teleporter. If the player picked Lilac, Carol, or Torque, then as they progress through the level they will see Milla pop her head out of the air vents and give them a health flower or a shield. By going to the right, the player will find said keycard and be able to open the door. The next teleporter will take the player to a room near a locked door to the left that needs a keycard. There several Axle Turrets and a Shade Elite where the player starts, but they can be ran past. The player enters the level through some teleporters. The floor is a green-purple pattern, and the lights illuminate the background to an orange color that fades into purple at the top. Milla ducks underneath a electricity trap.įinal Dreadnought 2 starts deeper into Brevon's dreadnought than the previous level.
